your Wikli-fix: more than a handfulThis morning the Wikli has its hands full. Columbia Citizens have their arms outstretched, inviting you to lend a hand, try your hand, clap your hands, or fill them with neighborhood goods. Oh, and this is the last time Columbia Citizens can count on one hand the years we've shared this site: five years and counting. |

Columbia City ArtWalk & galleriesFor the second month this summer, Columbia City has hosted another successful ArtWalk with great vendors, live music, live artists and fantastic galleries. The ArtWalk coordinates with 6 businesses & organizations in Columbia City to show art from local artists in south Seattle as well as the greater Seattle area. The galleries include Salon Adidez, Pure Alchemy Salon, Church of Hope, Edward Jones Investments, Stash Quilt Shop, and Geraldine's Counter. Each month these businesses host a new artist for the month, with each ArtWalk being an opportunity for residents and visitors to peruse around the streets and alleys of Columbia City. The next ArtWalk is Thursday, July 19 from 6-9pm. We hope to see you there as well!

Volunteer to help homeless kidsEvery fall through Project COOL, Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness members and volunteers make sure that hundreds of homeless children and youth start the school year off right by providing backpacks and school supplies. Project COOL will be at Columbia City Church of Hope (in the basement) counting, sorting, and organizing supplies to fill backpacks for distribution. Give them a hand for an hour or an afternoon! Groups are welcome, and so are children (with an adult companion). We need volunteers on August 2, 4, 11, and 14. Shifts are from 9am -noon or 12:30-3:30pm, and we provide lunch.
