bike ride to Moving Planet SeattleMoving Planet Seattle is Seattle's instance of a global 350.org event, a day to put our demands for climate action into motion — marching, biking, skating —calling for the world to go beyond fossil fuels. Ride with Bike Works! There will be a community bike ride leaving from Bike Works (3709 S Ferdinand St) at 10:30 on Saturday, September 24th and traveling all the way down to South Lake Union Park to join in the big ol' party. We will join with other Moving Planet ride groups along the way. It should be a blast!

B'shnorkestra: new work for strings, horns & drumsThe B'shnorkestra is a new large ensemble project featuring the work of Seattle based composer Samantha Boshnack. We'll premier eight new works in two concerts September 22 and 24 at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center (all ages). Bold and undulating, there is a majestic grandness to Boshnack's compositions, regardless of the project featured. In the B'shnorkestra. strings and percussion orchestrate the soaring melodic and tightly punctuated horn lines she’s celebrated for, taking this new work to a cinematically inspired place.

free voice lessons -- community projectIn preparation for an expansive outdoor performance in Spring of 2013, I am teaching free voice lessons to potential participants. This is open to people of all ages. Considering the timeframe, I can likely work with anyone, though some music ability would be appreciated. Experienced singers are welcome, as I teach to a professional standard. I can be reached in person on Wednesday afternoons at Columbia City Gallery. The performance will occur in May of 2013, behind the Columbia City Library. The title, "In Buried River," is related to the stream that once flowed below what is now a path.

welcome back The Maldives & Grand HallwayWe've got a great week of shows ahead of us this beautiful week of indian summer. Thursday we pay tribute to Ronnie James DIO and you can enjoy the festivities for free. On Saturday we're excited to welcome both Grand Hallway and The Maldives back to our stage this Saturday for a benefit and silent auction for their friend Mark Giese who suffered a stroke at 33, with no health insurance. Grand Hallway and The Maldives were two of the first bands to take our stage when we first opened and have been big supporters of the Theater and we're happy to give back a little to a person that means so much to them.
