jam making party

The fruit is ripe, we've got a big kitchen, and we're making some jam! Come to Columbia City Church of Hope (3818 S Angeline) at 6pm on Wednesday, Aug 24 to can some delicious summer preserves.

Bring your own fruit from the market, your yard, wherever you can get it (or come to the church at 3pm to go pick blackberries in the neighborhood).

Everyone is welcome. We'll have jars, sugar, lemons and pectin — but please bring pint or half-pint mason jars with lids if you have them.

Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and Summer Streets Party

Wow — this year will be the most amazing parade and street party that the Valley has seen in some time!

A not-to-be-missed event this Saturday, August 20. Parade starts at 11am in Columbia City on Rainier Ave. Then, Rainier will stay open to peds and bikes until 3pm for more fun with a street party.

Rainier will be our parade/party grounds from Brandon to Alaska.

Seward Park photographs

If you like Seward Park and like photography, I invite you to participate in this flickr group dedicated to Seward Park.

It's such a beautiful place: since we can't be there as often or as long as we would each like to be, perhaps this group can help extend the experience.
