call for artists & craftspeople, Art in the Alley applicationsThe Columbia City Gallery is accepting applications from artists and craftspeople in all media to participate in Art in the Alley, Southeast Seattle's outdoor visual arts festival. Every year, we fill the alley just to the north of the Gallery with art and the artists who make it. This year, we are pleased to be partnering with Rainier Valley Summer Streets Block Party and Parade, which will bring hundreds of potential customers to the neighborhood. Art in the Alley is on Saturday, August 20th from 11 am – 5 pm. You can download vendor applications on the front page of our website.

Columbia City ArtWalk, Bohemian BackstreetsNext Thursday, July 21st, Community Arts Create will be hosting Columbia City's 3rd summer ArtWalk. Bohemian Backstreets is an artwalk like no other, celebrating the arts of all varieties, from visual art and music, to puppets and culinary demonstrations. Take a walk around the neighborhood, visiting neighborhood shops and restaurants where artists have hung their work. Participate in public art projects. New to the ArtWalk this month, Art After-Hours! Live Art and Music at the Columbia City Theater after the ArtWalk starting at 8pm. Don't miss it!

Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and Summer Streets PartySaturday, August 20 is going to be the biggest celebration in the Valley! We are opening Rainier Ave from Brandon (at Group Health) to Alaska (at the library) for peds and bikes. First the parade at 11am, then the Street Party from 12 to 3pm. Celebrating the diversity of 98118 with the Rainier Valley Culture Fest Weekend on Sat 8/20 and Sun 8/21: Seafair Sanctioned Event with continuing celebration on Sunday at Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival.

Seward Park Centennial garden and history tourFor Seward Park's Centennial, the Friends of Seward Park presents a garden and history tour on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 1 to 4pm. This self-guided tour includes private and public gardens and sites of historic interest in Hillman and Columbia City. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the tour and may be purchased on the Centennial web site. All proceeds will help to support the rest of Seward Park Centennial events throughout 2011.
