CCBA seeks program managerThe Columbia City Business Association (CCBA) is seeking a program manager to assist the CCBA in implementing a multi-faceted business district "Action Plan". The opportunity is an 8-month-long contracted position, with the potential of continued work in subsequent years depending on funding and performance. The Action Plan consists of some 25 strategies grouped into five topical areas: organization and outreach; business development; safety and cleanliness; marketing and promotion; and pedestrian environment. A base contract amount of $40,000 is anticipated, with the potential for an additional performance-based incentive. The program manager will work as an independent contractor.

Columbia City Farmers MarketThe 2011 Farmers Market season opens on Wednesday, April 27th. It runs every Wednesday from 3-7pm till October 19th. Last year, after more than a decade in the same location, the Columbia City Farmers Market moved out onto Edmunds Street. This year, with the support of the entire market community including farmers, shoppers, neighbors and staff, we'll continue to set up on Edmunds Street …every Wednesday.

Music for Everyone, Now enrolling for April!Parent/Caregiver and Child Music classes begin April 6, at the Lakewood Seward Park Community Club. Music for Everyone's kids classes, taught by early childhood music teacher Jana Vitols, engages 2-5 year olds in musical exploration. Jana's decade of teaching experience is evident as she inspires a love of rhythm and melody. She plays a variety of string instruments including guitar, banjo, and violin. preschool music & art classesRainier Valley Cultural Center introduces a new class series for Toddlers every Tuesday and Thursday starting April 5th. Music A,B,C will be at 9:30am, taught by music instructor/violinist Ben Hunter. Children will explore the world of music through the 26 letters of the alphabet, developing both language and music skills. We'll hold Art Discovery will be at 11am, taught by internationally recognized teaching artist Kathleen McHugh. She'll nurture children's budding creativity through painting, drawing, printmaking, clay, collage and art/science experiments.
