Columbia City Farmers Market

For the Last market day of the season…

  • Kids Tent: decorate gourds and twist vines and flowers into autumnal crowns
  • Music: dreamy ballads by Pasquale Santos

Last chance to stock up on the most valuable food in town, right in your neighborhood…peppers, melons, wild mushrooms, cheese, fresh hen eggs, fish, chicken, beef, potatoes, apples (oh, the apples!!) and for a last day treat: St. Jude Tuna!

Cultural Corner Open House

Columbia School is now home to the Torah Day School and the Cultural Corner. The Cultural Corner will be holding an open house during the last Farmers Market of the season. Come say hi and offer up any suggestions for what you'd like to see offered at the Cultural Corner.

The Cultural Corner is:

  • Paul Nelson: SPokenword LAB (SPLAB)
  • Molly Scott: visual artist and choreographer
  • Joanne Kelly: graphic designer, photographer and communications planner

We'll have some light refreshments provided by Island Soul Restaurant and Salon Adidez.

Green Seattle Day, Nov. 6

Plant a tree for the annual Green Seattle Day in your woods! The Green Seattle Partnership has selected Cheasty Greenspace/Mt. View as a site for this great, citywide, tree-planting event!

Save the date and come over to Cheasty Greenspace/Mt. View (one block west of the Columbia City Light Rail Station) on Saturday, November 6 from 10am-2pm. We need your help to plant 200 donated trees as part of the City's Green Seattle Day, a day dedicated to planting trees in our urban parks.

Cheasty Greenspace/Mt. View is one of 14 city parks selected for this great event! Bring your family and have your kids name their very own tree that they can visit year after year…and register by clicking this link.

LSPCC Halloween Ice Cream Social

Halloween Ice Cream Social & Kids Costume Party at the Lakewood Seward Park Community Club is a pre-Halloween event — another fun reason for kids to wear their costumes!

Friday October 29th at the LSPCC (4916 S Angeline) from 6:30-8:00pm. Featuring Full Tilt Ice Cream. Members free, non-members $3 per person or $10 per family.

new hours, free shows & the return of burlesque

We've got new hours and a new schedule of weekly events at The Bourbon bar at Columbia City Theater starting this week!

Our new hours are Sunday - Thursday: 4pm to 12am. We'll keep our regular weekend/show night hours: 4pm to 2am.

Our new weekly events:

  • Monday: Open Mic Night
  • Tuesday: Trivia with Tony Kay
  • Wednesday: Karaoke
  • And our all day Happy Hours have moved to Tuesday!

And burlesque fans, we know you've been waiting with bated breath, so we are thrilled to announce that burlesque is retuning to Columbia City Theater in a big way come November.

Southeast District Council meeting

Southeast and Greater Duwamish District Councils will hold a joint meeting on October 27th from 6:30 to 8:30pm. at the Rainier Community Center, 4600 38th Ave S. This month's meeting will focus on the 2011-2012 City budget. We will hear from Beth Goldberg, the City's Budget Director, and Stella Chao, Department of Neighborhoods Director.
