Columbia City Gallery presents 40 visual artists

Columbia City Gallery is pleased to present (un)wrapped, its 5th Annual Juried Exhibit in the Guest Gallery featuring the work of 40 artists from all across North America.

Columbia City parking

Last summer, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) put in a restricted parking zone (RPZ) for several blocks around the new light rail station to support resident and business parking. We're preparing for a follow-up parking study this November to see how it's working. SDOT has also been approached by the Columbia City Business Association with requests to change parking in the business district. We'd like to hear from you and get feedback from the neighborhood. Oktoberfest at the Lakewood Seward Park Community Club

Everyone's invited to join us in celebrating the arrival of fall. Oktoberfest at the Lakewood Seward Park Community Club (4916 S Angeline) will be Saturday October 2nd. The party begins at 6:30pm and lasts until 10:00.

No admission charge.

Brats and hot dogs fresh off the grill will be available for purchase as will frosty Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (and soft drinks too!). We may even have some fabulous raffle prizes! Mark your calendar for some neighborhood fun!

Seattle Public Schools invites families to 'Welcome Back' meeting

Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Maria L. Goodloe-Johnson, Ph.D. invites parents, guardians and family members to attend a "Welcome Back" meeting for the Southeast Region, scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Aki Kurose Middle School, 3928 S. Graham St. Families will have an opportunity to meet and talk with the Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Susan Enfield, Southeast Region Executive Director for Schools Michael Tolley and representatives of the region's schools.

Southeast District Council meeting

Southeast District Council's meeting is on September 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Rainier Community Center, 4600 38th Ave S. At this month's meeting, we will hear from City Councilmember Richard Conlin, State Senator Adam Kline, and Dept of Neighborhoods Director Stella Chao.

Rainier Community Center is the first site in the city for the new "Safe Routes to Parks" initiative. Join your neighbors for a guided walk as we take notes on ways to make it safer to access the community center and Genesee Park on foot!
