Welcome to Week 102

of the

Columbia Citizens' WikLi

Here it comes!

The Wikli's coming out of hibernation, shaking off that wet wintery weariness, and savoring its resurgent summer spirit.

your Wikli-fix: back in the saddle again

The Wikli's rolling again! It's whiled away the winter months at the back of the shop, building and customizing to its heart's content. Sure, things still feel a little creaky, and there's room for improvement. But it sure is good to be out again.

There's lots of new material to share, but mostly it's the same familiar site. Poke around, give it a spin, and tell us what you think.

Here's what Citizens have shared this week:

Live locally.

On this week's calendar: all those great summer stalwarts — Farmers market, BeatWalk, a lakeside running race, Bike Sunday, and lots more.

You can post a calendar event — here's how.

new development proposed on Edmunds

A Columbia City architect and developer are proposing new townhomes for the corner of 39th Ave S and S Edmunds. Six new homes fronting on 39th, with parking at the rear from an alley entrance.

Take a look at the design packet. The design team is looking for flexibility to do things the Land Use Code might otherwise prevent, like moving the front doors closer to the sidewalk and putting open space on rooftop decks. That flexibility helps to fit with neighborhood character, but it also gives neighbors a chance to weigh in.

No Place Like Home Open House

Did you know that there used to be seven houses on the Whitworth Playfield? In 1989 those houses were torn down to expand the school site. This spring students at Orca K-8 @ Whitworth have researched the houses and the people who lived in them. We wrote stories based on the historic evidence we were able to find about those people. On June 17th from 3-7 we are going to draw the floorplans of the houses on the playfield and even put furniture in one of them! This even is free and we would love for you to come so we can share our information with you. Refreshments will be provided. Thanks!
