Almost February? Already? Yes, and we are going to usher it in with three of the hottest movies ever, Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Taken, a new suspense thriller starring Liam Neeson. The first two you know. The third is the story of a man whose daughter is kidnapped and who possesses very specific skills on how to hunt people down. Extremely suspenseful and well done with, thank goodness, no graphic violence. All three will be showing through Thursday, 2/5.

Gran Torino heads out this Thursday, 1/29. Stop in and see if here before it leaves.

Metro has recently released revised proposals for changes to bus routes in the southeast Seattle area. You may get more information and complete an online questionnaire.

The Columbia City Gallery is hosting a silent auction by secret bid of Gallery artists' Work from January 21 -31, 2009. This is a secret, silent auction, which means you won't know what other people have bid. Artists have given each artwork a minimum bid, and you can bid any amount above the minimum bid. You may make bids in person at the Columbia City Gallery (4864 Rainier Ave S), on the phone by calling 760-9843 or via our online silent auction gallery.

C-City Runners

Need some inspiration for your fitness New Year's resolutions? Come join the CCity Runners for a Saturday morning run!

We meet at the Columbia City Bakery every Saturday morning (rain or shine) at 8:30 AM. Look for the morning host and introduce yourself. Routes vary depending on the runner. Weaving for beginners

Learn to warp a loom, weave cloth using plain weave and twill, and how to plan a project and calculate your usage. Students will complete several sample swatches. All materials included. For two days Columbia City Gallery artist Kate Harkins will teach you how to turn everyday scraps into art! Bring anything that inspires you: plants, fabric, paper scraps, photos, etc. Or just bring yourself and be ready to create. The February class is perfect for Valentine's Day gifts!
