Preschool Storytime Bring your preschoolers on Friday Dec 19th at 10:30am to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs, and fun with our children's librarian. There will be no storytime on Dec 26th and Jan 2nd.

Grupo Bilingüe de Juegos / Bilingual Play and Learn Group Friday Dec 19th and 26th from 11:30-1pm. Grupo bilingüe de juegos para padres y cuidadores con niños entre las edades de nacimiento hasta 5 años. / Bilingual play group for ages birth to 5.

Homework Help This is the last week of Homework Help before we take a winter break — volunteers will assist students with homework on a drop in basis. Dec 15th-18th, Mon-Thu, 5-7:45pm. Homework Help will start again on Jan 5th.

South Seattle Solstice: Festival of Lights

Join us on Sun, Dec 21st for the first South Seattle Solstice: Festival of Lights. We will meet at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center parking lot at 4pm with our lanterns and noisemakers and head south to Hillman City to celebrate community on the darkest day of the year, with light, music & refreshments.

Landmarks review for Columbia Plaza

Department of Neighborhoods has posted the agenda for the neighborhood landmarks review committee. They meet Friday the 19th at 3:30 in the Library. The first items seem to be cosmetic changes to existing structures in the District. (These are classic historic homes in the heart of the district, background is here and here).

At 4pm, the Landmarks Preservation Board's Architectural Review Committee joins the neighborhood committee. They're reviewing new development at Columbia Plaza.

Gather — One Hundred Dresses

Gather presents One Hundred Dresses by Kumiko Ishida and Sanae Ishida. January 10 - February 8. Toddler wear meets haute couture in the unique auction of Kumiko Ishida's beautifully handcrafted dressed made from recycled textiles. We'll donate all proceeds from the auction to the Boys and Girls Club and the Food Bank, both in South Seattle!
