This Wednesday we've got live music from Clallam County.

There'll be tons of tasty spring veggies: asparagus, carrots, lettuces, radish, celery, snap peas, sunchokes, baby turnips and beets, cabbage, cauliflower, all kind of greens and flowering greens. And rhubarb — delicious in pies, or just make sauce the same way you make apple sauce (peel, chop, boil, add sweetner) — rhubarb sauce is absolutely delicious alone or with vanilla yogurt or ice cream.

Also look for plenty of fresh herbs and garlic chives (you can make a fantastic omelet with chopped, sauteed garlic chives, fresh herbs and some grated cheese — almost any of the goat or cow's milk cheeses at the market is delicious melted). Special treats at the market: Rockridge Orchard's berry and apple granita, chocolate truffles from Trevani, and yummy pastries from our local bakers.

This week at the library, come by Friday morning from 11:30-1 for Play and Learn, a play group for parents or caregivers and children between the ages of birth and five.

Homework Help will also be available this week from 5-7 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Make sure to stop by this week and leave a goodbye message for Nancy Pew, our children's librarian who is moving to a new job. We have a special book available at the library for anyone to sign, and we'll be giving her this book at the end of this week.

Columbia City Theater offers a classic show stage, a multi-track recording studio, a video production facility and an elegant cocktail lounge. Come enjoy a show and a cocktail Tuesday – Saturday and consider our venue the perfect place to host your event.

Powerful Writers Open Mic

Final Open Mic at Starbucks '08 for all Powerful Writers students (from Dunlap, New School, John Muir, Beacon Hill and Graham Hill elementaries). May 28. Sign up at 6; reading begins at 6:30. Free hot chocolate for all student readers. Open mics will resume January 2009!

Seward Park Environmental & Audubon Center

Super Saturday! Join us on Saturday, May 24th, from 10am to 2pm for a day "All About Birds". We'll have guided bird/nature walks at 10am and noon, as well as activities, games, and crafts going on inside the newly-renovated Center. We encourage pre-registration for the walks.
