At the library

  • Play and Learn continues this week and throughout the month on Fridays from 11:30am-1:00pm. The program is for children 5 and under and their grownups. The new Neighborhood House facilitator is Janice — she's fluent in Chinese and English. Many thanks to our first facilitator, Mayra, who is home preparing for the birth of twins!
  • Friday story times will resume on Friday, April 4 from 10:30-11:15.
  • Congratulations to the Global Reading winning team for Hawthorne School. "The Destroyers" will represent their school at a semifinal challenge at the Downtown Library early next week.

sidewalk garden spring cleanup

In concert with the city's Spring Clean campaign which begins Sat. April 5 and goes through Sat May 31 (Saturdays only), I'm planning our first garden cleanup at the St. Edmunds St. parking strip flower garden next to the Farmers' Market site. Please bring tools, hand pruners, loppers, shovels, weeders, gloves, etc. and join me on Sat. April 5 at 9 am or whenever you can get there. If you don't want to wait until then and want to begin some trash pickup, go for it. I'll have some extra tools folks can borrow, maybe the city will help too. If you don't know how to garden and would like to learn some stuff I'm happy to share what I know. Any questions, please call Iris at 723-5925 or 384-9123.

Seward Park Ivy-Out-athon by Graham Hill students

Graham Hill 4th and 5th grade students will be removing non-native invasive plants at Seward Park on March 25th. This will also serve as a fundraisier for our Outdoor Education Overnight in May with the Wilderness Awareness School. We are working hard to eradicate nature deficit disorder among our students. If you'd like to hear more or make a pledge to support our fundraising efforts, please contact me at gro.sloohcselttaes|dranoelwm#gro.sloohcselttaes|dranoelwm or 252-7174.
