Renaud Garcia-Fons at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center

This Friday Evening May 3rd at 7 pm, world-renounced double-bass player will be performing a free concert at the Cultural Center. This is an amazing one-time event that you won't want to miss!


Renaud Garcia-Fons is a French double-bass player and composer, notable for his customised 5-stringed bass. Garcia-Fons started playing music at an early age, began with piano when he was only five, switched to classical guitar at eight, and then to rock in his teens, finally settling on the bass when he was 16. In the early 1980s Garcia-Fons enrolled at the Paris Conservatory; he has studied with François Rabbath who taught him his special technique of playing arco. Garcia-Fons is known for his melodic sense and his viola-like col arco sound and sometimes even referred to as "the Paganini of double bass. Garcia-Fons is in Seattle to play a benefit Saturday, May 4th, at Seattle Town Hall to benefit Hope Urban Farms. He will also being performing at a Free Concert "for the talented, under-served youth artists of Seattle" on Friday, May 3rd, at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center, at 3515 S Alaska Street in Historic Columbia City.
