Columbia City Cinema Presents!
On the third Wednesday of the next three months, the Columbia City Cinema presents From Reel to Real, a live event series that features some of Columbia City's most talented performers. The series will be held at the historic Rainier Valley Cultural Center.
The line-up includes The Vagina Monologues performed by the New Amerikan Theatre (March 16), an evening with best-selling author Garth Stein (April 20) and a night of standup humor with legendary comedian John Keister and friends (May 18).
Doors open at 7pm, shows start at 7:30pm. Tickets $12 in advance and $18 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the Cinema box office (Daily 1-7pm, 4816 Rainier Ave S) or at BrownPaperTickets.
Back in December, the popular Columbia City Cinema was faced with impending closure due to a missing sprinkler system and the inability to sell stock. Cinema owner, Paul Doyle, got creative and found a legal solution that saved the Cinema. Ready to celebrate, Paul got creative again and came up with From Reel to Real. "We had so many friends from the community offer their talents to help keep the cinema going strong, that I decided it was time for us to put on a show and celebrate our accomplishment."
The events are co-sponsored by SeedArts, a local arts organization that operates the Rainier Cultural Center and supports Columbia City Gallery. For more information call the Cinema at 721.3156 or visit columbiacitycinema.com.
