Park(ing) Day 2009

It’s almost that time again – to creatively take over parking spaces for a day on September 18, 2009 – for National Park(ing) Day in Seattle! PARK(ing) Day is a “one-day, global event to highlight the need for more urban open space, rethink the way green space can happen, and improve the quality of urban human habitat”.

Last year, SEEDArts and a group of incredible volunteers from the Gateway Project created 4 interactive “parks” along Rainier Ave S. This year, we would like to expand the parks in the Rainier Valley and encourage more people/businesses to get involved. SEEDArts will be working in collaboration with Feet First to provide permits and barricades for each park in our area.

We are looking for Team Leaders and Volunteers to participate in designing, installing, and monitoring parking space! Please email Abbey at gro.elttaesdees|sirrona#gro.elttaesdees|sirrona by July 29th, if you are interested in getting involved. A meeting for all volunteers will be held the first week of August – so start coming up with ideas!

Get your business or organization involved!
We are seeking co-sponsors for this event to fund the cost of Street Use Permits, barricade rentals, and any supplies that are not donated. Please contact Abbey Norris at (206) 760-4289, if you would like to co-sponsor this event - you will receive LOTS OF RECOGNITION in printed materials & online!
