Inaugural Meeting

Hello All,
A group of us met with Katie from Seattle Tilth and Minh from P-patch to get some more ideas.

Here are the results:

- Partner with local churches, where we have some connections, to use some of their land for a community garden.
- Working with Parks and Recreation and the Rainier Community Center to expand their beds for people to garden and learn how to garden.
- Partner with the Brighton and the SE Senior Center to refresh the Brighton gardens and do classes at the Center.
- Promote local backyard garden sharing.

We will follow up on these avenues and will meet monthly to move projects forward.

Here is a great site to link people who want to garden with people who have available land. It's through the Urban Land Army site and a new unit's being formed in Columbia City: To access the site you need to be a Google group member but this is pretty easy to do. Here is a link to the site: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=101598623044351033611.000451df6b5c2d56bea4e&ll=50.289339,-111.445312&spn=33.872198,52.734375&z=3&source=embed Once you get to the map it's easy to post on it.
