Is there any interest in a garden club?

I would join one if it existed but do not currently have the time to be part of the planning committee. I created this page (thanks for adding Comment functionality, Scott) to encourage others to go ahead. I heard a bit of interest during the recent CC Garden Tour. Perhaps those who plan or volunteer for the garden tour may be just the right people for a garden club. Also, I know there is interest in Hillman City.
other ideas for the mix:
I would be interested.
Don't know what it would include, but sounds good.
-I especially like the idea of a "plant swap" for a garden club (each person brings a plant, bulbs, plant tools, etc that they want to pass along to someone else, then they are all placed together, and and each person gets to pick one from the lot for as many plants as they brought) Keeping your garden exciting.
Just a thought, but I would be interested to know what yall come up with
I would be interested also — it's fun to help new gardeners, and to share ideas and plants with other experienced gardeners. When we had a plot in the p-patch the interaction with other gardeners was the best part. A garden tool sharing or collective would be a good idea — we don't all need lawn mowers, or weed-whackers!
The 2008 Columbia City Garden Tour was a big success! We raised several hundred dollars over expenses, and the gardeners and the 'touristas' had fun. Anyone interested in forming a combination garden club/garden tour organizing committee? Ideally, we should start organizing next year's tour by this fall. The main organizer of this year's tour is stepping down, so we need to build a core group to organize for next year. What would you choose as a focus—flowers, food gardens or a combination?
I'm game, both for a garden club and being involved in the 2009 garden tour. A HUGE thanks to Joan for initiating the CC garden tours lo these many years ago, and getting the ball rolling again in 2008.
Late summer is a great time of year to snoop around and look at other folks' gardens…a great time to inititate a garden club, I think!
I propose a get-together of interested parties at noon on Sunday, July 27, in the backyard garden at the Columbia City Healing Arts Center (Angeline St. at 38th). It's a small yard, but there's lots packed in there—including rain barrels, fruit trees, a grape on espalier, and veggie gardens wedged into the least probable space. Bring a folding chair!
If you'd like to be involved but can't make it Sunday the 27th, feel free to contact me through the wikidot email system. (What? You're not registered? It's easy and free…)
See you then!
Hello hello out there! Are all the gardeners in columbia city waking up? I'm up and loving being out in the garden until six o'clock again!
Which has me thinking about our garden tour. Does anyone know the status of a 2009 tour? Could I get in touch with the organizer of last years tour?
I am getting the feeling like it's full speed ahead for an amazing tour again this year. When budgets are tight it's always free to play in the dirt!
I'm one of the organizers of last year's CC Garden Tour. I also am involved with Sustainable S Seattle. We are definitely interested in doing a tour again this year! Please contact me at moc.liamg|85sbbiges#moc.liamg|85sbbiges. and we'll get thing rolling!
Great idea! We would be interested in participating in a garden club and helping with the garden tour 2009.
Have you seen this really nice blog by Bridget Lamp?
