Thank you to the community members who have been so generous in their
support of Rainier Valley Food Bank (RVFB). On behalf of the board
of directors, volunteers, our staff and most importantly, our
clients, we thank you for your donations of food and funds. At
Rainier Valley Food Bank, our goal is to treat our clients with
dignity and to provide nutritional food. I do want to take this
opportunity to correct a misperception that may have arisen from a
recent appeal sent by a board member of RVFB. While we have never
completely run out of food, recently we have run very low on sources
of protein and healthy food.
I am personally excited about the work we are doing and the future of
RVFB. On a shoestring budget in a small cramped building with a
cadre of committed volunteers, RVFB supports more than 5,000
individuals and families a month. As you can imagine, in a
struggling economy with rising food and fuel prices, the need is
rising every month.
We are a vigorous organization with a new board of directors, solid
sources of support and ever-increasing donations from the community.
