proposed bus revisions

Metro is considering how bus routes and schedules should change when light rail comes online. You can read their initial proposal.

For the area around Columbia City, it looks like the main idea is a reroute of the 39/34. The 7 express might go away, and they might extend the 9.

More details are here.

Is this what a disappearing bus route looks like?

Hi,

If you haven’t already completed a questionnaire and you would like your views to be considered early in the recommendation-making process about possible changes to bus service and routes in southeast Seattle, be sure to complete an online questionnaire no later than today- Thursday, November 6th.

Here are the relevant links to the questionnaire and background information:

http://transit.metrokc.gov/up/sc/plans/2008/102008-sesea.html

http://transit.metrokc.gov/up/sc/plans/2008/102008-sesea-quest.html

Please encourage other people you know who ride the bus in southeast Seattle, Skyway, and West Hill to complete the online questionnaire too.

The community advisory board (called a “Sounding Board”) will work with transit staff to analyze community feedback. They will refine the proposed changes and seek further community input in January. That input will be thoroughly considered as final recommendations are drafted in February and submitted to Metro’s general manager, the King County Executive, and the King County Council in March- April.

If you would like to feature a Metro transit planner to come speak to your organization or other SE Seattle groups in January or February to discuss the refined 2009 proposals, please contact me- vog.ytnuocgnik|snehtul.haras#vog.ytnuocgnik|snehtul.haras, 206-684-1154.

Thanks again for your input and for encouraging others to express to participate in the process.

~ cheers, Sarah
