Are you up for an artful challenge? Use clues to track down Seattle’s public art, capture longitude and latitude for the artwork, and create a stellar Waymark for a chance to win a limited-edition trackable Bounty Geocoin!
Specific art targets are revealed each week for several weeks during this project, and there are several of those in our neck of the woods. For example:
- Spirit of Washington, @ Columbia Park
- Plynth and Pylon from the Project "Vista," @ Beacon Avenue and Spokane Street
- Hydro Roots from the project "Vista," also @ Beacon Avenue and Spokane Street
I thought I would post this here since some of our neighbors might be interested in playing.
More info and official rules are available.
If you would like to see what a waymark is, here is an example of one that was submitted just a few days ago:
LEW Floor at the Central Library, in the category of Seattle Art & Seek.
Here is another fun example not too far away:
Ginormous Cowboy Boots in the category of Ginormous Everyday Objects. Note that this category is totally unrelated to Seattle Art & Seek, but I am just using it here because I like the opportunity to use the word ginormous.
Basically, Waymarking.com provides tools for you to catalog, mark and visit interesting and useful locations around the world.
