We had Heneghen as a special guest on our second show and he absolutely lit the theater on fire. He's also one of our most requested and talked about comedians. We're very excited about this show!
We also welcome another our favorite comedians who returns to Seattle by way of New York, Owen Straw!
Also scheduled to appear are Evan Morrison, Jessica Strauss and Billy Anderson
BIOS
James Heneghen is a veteran comic. He first got on stage in 1993 and trudged his way through the rungs of hometown comedy scene. He has been working as a headliner for well over a decade, as well as giving support to touring comics in the Seattle area. Heneghen has become known as something of a legend around here, but the truth is that he is just a damn good comic that is a true craftsman and dedicated to his art. Over the past 20 years on stage he has developed a distinct improvisational-based style, often times going to many small shows every week just to do fresh material, which is never written down or done the same twice. For a guy that won’t remember your name until you’ve met 30 times he has an incredible ability to get on stage and simply be funny.
James draws his material from a lifetime of downright puzzling situations, from signing up for the Vietnam war, hitchhiking across the entire Country in the 60′s, sneaking into Woodstock and then eventually raising 3 sons in Bellevue. he has shared the stage with many superstars, and has been a finalist in the International Seattle Comedy Competition more times than can be remembered. He currently hosts a monthly Sunday night showcase, “Heneghen & Friends” at the Comedy Underground, Seattle’s longest running comedy club.
He has been called “King of Seattle” by Ralphie May and “a fucking maniac” by that shithead in the green Accord who apparently learned how to drive under water.
All bullshit aside, Heneghen never does the same show twice, and as someone that has been around comedy for 20+ years- it is a real treat to watch him go up, whether it is 10 minutes off the top of his head to 15 people at an open mic or a finely polished penis joke to a packed house of yuppies, watching Heneghen do comedy is watching someone do what they love and do it well, which is a beautiful thing.
Emerging from the burgeoning Seattle stand-up comedy scene, Owen Straw’s comedic style of absurdist literalism has been capturing the hearts of audiences for years. Bringing a unique energy and deceptive intelligence to his bizarre jokes, Straw’s act weaves from quick one liners to real life stories about failure and heartbreak and sometimes a sing-a-long.
Owen Straw has won championships in pizza eating and semi-professional wrestling, released several punk rock records, created the World Extreme Pencil Fighting Championships, and appeared in movies and television, including the Daytime Emmy winning PBS series BizKid$.
