We dug up this healthy, mature cotonoeaster shrub yesterday and it is ready for a new home. (That is pronounced ca-tone-e-aster, not "cotton Easter" like it looks.) It is a fine plant, but we want to plant a mock orange and I just don't have the acreage to have it all. We have 3 of these shrubs and are keeping one of them.
Want this one? If so, please contact me.
If you want to give me other (small) plants in thanks, I wouldn't mind. :-) I'm looking for some borage, actually.
I’m not sure what species it is. Likely cotoneaster lacteus or cotoneaster parneyi. It’s great for birds because the sugars in its berries ripen late and give them late-winter food. The berries are orange-red and last a long time. The plant has graceful, arching branches. Grows vigorously but is not invasive. Once established, requires little maintenance. Can grow to 4 or 8 feet tall, depending on conditions.
