The city's gigabit internet service is being installed on the northern border of Columbia City. If you're like me and resent the cost, mediocre speeds, and mandatory cable tv packages that come with Comcast service (I myself wish for a cheaper and better internet-only connection), then this is very positive news. In my case, the new gigabit network will offer a package that's several times the speed of my current connect for barely more than half of what I'm currently paying. Let's all pile-on with comments and phone calls to get this service extended to include all of Columbia City!

Agreed! Unfortunately, the coverage (despite the press releases) stops before reaching Columbia City proper (the boundary is Alaska). It seems like the result of some serious misguidance. From what I can tell from the map, it is mainly the businesses along Rainier Ave from 90 to Alaska that will benefit (admittedly, there's a few blocks down by Genesse that will get it).
