Rooster on the loose?

We have been hearing a rooster crowing in the mornings for almost a week now, starting pretty early as you would expect. We are on Ferdinand between 39th and 42nd. It has been spotted a few times on the porch of a yellow house on our block, sometimes hanging out with cats. But sometimes it seems further away so it's clearly not kept in a single yard.

Anyone know anything about this rooster and who it might belong to?

We are on the same block and the rooster is driving us crazy. It is impossible to drown out the cockle doodle doos.

I called the animal shelter and asked for advice on how to take care of the rooster. Sounds like if we can trap him (humanely of course) then they (shelter/animal control) will come pick him up and bring him to a sanctuary outside of the city where he will be re-homed. Anyone up for a game of catch the rooster?

If you wait to see where he sleeps he'll be very easy to catch. Use a towel so you won't get scratched. ;)

If you can establish who owns the rooster, I expect that you can call animal control. Roosters aren't allowed in the city. I've been hearing the bird a lot lately too, sounds like it's somewhere on Hudson just E of 39th. Someone just has to be willing to get up early enough to figure out where the thing lives.

I am pretty sure that the rooster lives in the "compound" located at 5021 37th Ave S. I live nearby and it doesn't really bother me, but I could understand it bothering others. Unless there are multiple CC roosters !?!?

I think the particular rooster I am complaining about lives on the other side of Rainier, somewhere between 39th and 42nd. It would be great if someone got a photo and posted it.

The rooster we (jeromium & I)are referring to is actually in the 3900 block of South Ferdinand. Animal control won't catch it, but if someone else catches it they will come pick it up and re-home it outside of the city limits. We've spoken to a few neighbors and are working with the home owner (with whom the rooster is squatting) and are trying to figure out where he roosts so that we can catch him. Good luck to all the other Rooster victims out there!

I have noticed a herd a dogs will bark non stop every morning the rooster calls out for about half an hour. Does anyone know where the dogs are coming from? It seems to be at least 2 if not more sets of barking. This morning it happened at 5:40 am and lasted a good 15-20 minutes.

Any word on whether the rooster has been caught? We're back in town as of yesterday after a weekend away, and haven't heard the rooster at all this morning. :)
