SummerSTAGE 2008
Rainier Valley Youth Theatre is auditioning youth ages 12- 21 this month for our 2008 SummerSTAGE production of "Callejón (The Alley)". Auditions will be held at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center, 3515 S. Alaska Street, on Saturday June 7 and Saturday, June 21 from 3-5pm.
The play is an original bilingual musical with international choreographer Luis Sandoval and Grammy award-winning guitarist Roberto Arguedas of Teatro Del Milenio of Peru. Rose Cano of North South Conexions is adapting the original script. Adrienne Green and Luis Sandoval will direct the production. Callejon is a musical, dance and theatre piece that will use traditional Afro-Peruvian rhythms to explore the story of Matías, the prodigal son who returns after years in New York to his old "alley" hang out in Peru to face his past and his ghosts in order to reclaim his Afro-Peruvian heritage.
Rehearsals for Callejon will run from June 26 through July 22, from 6 – 9pm Monday through Friday at RVCC. Public performances are scheduled July 24, 25, 26, 31 and Aug 1, 2 at the RVCC.
