Two welded steel and cast glass sculptures will be dedicated in Rainier Beach on May 24th, 2008. The sculptures were created by Oregon artist Garry Price and reflect the hopes that community residents imparted to him during interviews and community meetings. Dedication celebrations will take place in the parking lot of SAI Realty (9462 Rainier Ave S, at the corner of Rainier Ave S & Seward Park Avenue S) starting at 1:00pm, speakers will begin at 1:15pm. The general public is invited to attend; refreshments will be provided. Please park along Seward Park Avenue South or in front of Checks Cashed.
The Rainier Beach Sculpture project was administered by the Public Art Program at SouthEast Effective Development (SEED), and was supported by the Rainier Beach Merchant’s Association and the Rainier Beach Community Empowerment Coalition (RBCEC). Funding for the Rainier Beach Sculpture Project was provided by the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.
