Our home was broken into last Tuesday 12/13/11 afternoon while we were at work. Luckily our neighbor across the street saw it and called the police. The police arrived soon after but the robbers were able to flee in a white sedan. The funny thing is that they didn't go far. There were 4 total and 1 of them lives 2 blocks away. The police questioned 2 suspects and arrested the other two. They stole a couple hundred dollars in cash and some other personal things but the police couldn't find it on them. Two doors in our house were kicked in and had to be replaced. Even though they arrested 2 of them, they are already out of jail and still not sure if they will be prosecuted. We have stayed in contact with the detective but haven't heard anything yet. What is likely to happen in a case like this?

Sorry about your break in. We live at Dawson between Renton and MLK and were robbed—basically the same MO as yours—last year just before Christmas and then again in January. Nothing ever came of the investigation, and because the robbers were already gone by the time we called the police, the police didn’t seem to see it as much of a priority. Since then there seem to have been a rash of robberies in the neighborhood. Was happy to read that you were able to catch the robbers in your case. And even if they don’t go to jail, maybe this will serve as a deterrent. Kudos to your neighbor for being observant and calling the police.
