My neighbor had their house broken in today-someone pulled the recycling can in to climb to a high open window in clear sight of the street.

We're just north of that on Edmunds. Our house was broken into on 8/11. They kicked in back our basement door after trying to break a basement window. A man found one of our stolen items somewhere on Graham Street (apparently the burglars realized it wasn't worth anything and threw it out onto the street). Let's all keep an eye out for one another and hope this isn't a trend.
This sounds a lot like the break-in we had in early July. Someone climbed up on top of a garden shed, then up and over a peaked greenhouse/patio roof and into an upstairs window WHILE we were having a garage sale down below. I was later contacted by Mark Solomon from the South Precinct - hopefully the police can link these together. Must be someone young and agile. Bold, indeed!
We also had our home on Hudson broken into on 8/25. They broke the glass window overlooking the back alley to get into the house. It was a surprise to us thinking that they brought out a flat screen TV out on the main street in broad daylight without anyone seeing it! But now we have reason to believe that they also accessed the alley to move their loot from our home to their car. If they are young and agile, they can most definitely climb over the locked 6-feet-tall gate, especially since it was garbage day and having a recycling bin made it easier for them to climb over from the alley onto the driveway. Luckily, a neighbor saw the car they might have used (she took notes about the car and people that may be involved). We forwarded that information to the cops, so now we wait… Also, the same neighbor who saw this car has seen it being driven around the area. We hope this stops soon.
