I noticed that the "For Rent" sign in front of Columbia City Plaza has "Leased" on it. Does anyone know what's moving in and when?

I hear that there will be some sort of pet grooming business in there. I suspect that will be one of a few businesses in the space. I still think they plan on redeveloping the lot within the next two to three years, so I would bet the businesses are there on a temporary basis. Probably businesses that won't require too much money in new infrastructure. I am glad it will be used for something.
yep, this is true. pet self-grooming and fido and stitch will be opening up in there as well. i noticed a sign saying as much on one of the bulletin boards in the meadow park between genesee and the lake.
I don't get it… I thought the building was being torn down for the new construction - and that's the reason the farmer's market had to move.
What happened to the big construction project and when will the old building be torn down?
I think the folks at HAL are just waiting for their planets to align. The permitting is part of it, but so is the financing and the market outlook for whatever apartments they eventually build. I figure a five-year lease represents their best guess at how long it'll take to move beyond the housing bust. Lots can change in that timeframe.
I heard from my dog groomer who owns the Dog Spa of Seattle on Rainier that she's moving in there along with a few other pet-oriented services, including a pet store, and a doggie-daycare. Those services will be taking over 1/2 of the building and the other half will be a church. She said the timeline may be as early as June, as the owner had already done a lot of prework. But, all of this was from early last month, and who knows where things stand now.
Thanks for the info. It's great to have a community of helpful people in the neighborhood!
Another church and next to dog sitting no less? I hope that's a joke
