I heard so, but can't find any info about it. Anyone know?
It looks like there is—I know I've seen mention of it in the Wikli.
I just entered the term "liberally" in the search box up there on the right
("search this wiki"). A bit of clicking around and through the results showed
that there's a meeting on this upcoming Wednesday, Jan 16th. I forget the rest
of the details, but I'm sure you could do the same!
Bottoms up!
The Drinking Liberally will start-up in March after the Feb 9th Presidential caucuses. Give Rob Holland, Chair of 37th D a call at 206-353-6354
I called Rob Holland, as suggested, just to get some basic information. Here is what I found out:
The Drinking Liberally group used to meet regularly at Columbia City Ale House on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from about 7:30 until late. They would have a friendly group there, and also sometimes guest speakers (local politicians).
With the recent and very popular caucus activities in Washington State, the folks who used to organize it and attend have gotten a bit swamped with that work. (For example: April 5th is the legislative district convention at Ballard High.) They need a new interested party to commit to just sending out a reminder every month and to be there - and get the group meeting again. Rob can provide all the basic information, and can explain all the background support that is already available for this.
Contact Rob at 206-353-6354 or moc.ga4bor|bor#moc.ga4bor|bor .
I was curious about this so I went to their web site.
http://drinkingliberally.org/about.html :
What is Drinking Liberally?
An informal, inclusive progressive social group. Raise your spirits while you raise your glass, and share ideas while you share a pitcher. Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics.
Bars are democratic spaces - you talk to strangers, you share booths, you feel the bond of common ground. Bring democratic discourse to your local democratic space - build democracy one drink at a time.
While drinking liberally, always remember to drink responsibly, and make liberal use of designated drivers. Drinking and driving is reckless and irresponsible, like a neocon war or corporatist tax cut. Liberals, don't do it.
Thanks!
