Columbia City Church of Hope (3818 S Angeline St.) is excited to find a creative and innovative leader to develop a music ministry for our Sunday morning worship services (currently meeting once a month; beginning weekly services April 17). Below are the personal leadership qualities and expectations we are seeking, as well as a job description.

The position will be .25 FTE (with four Sundays paid vacation), working directly with and accountable to the pastor. Salary is $10,500. Projected start date April 1, 2011.

Good communicator with sense of humor
Independent, self-starter who is also able to work in collaboration with others
Has innovative ideas small groups, choirs, ensembles in worship
Familiarity with music of various cultures
Able to nurture and highlight musical gifts and talents of others
Values the use of music in building community
Familiarity with liturgical worship and seasons of the church year
Keen interest in developing a music program for a new church start
Accompaniment skills and experience
Collaboratively plan weekly Sunday worship and special services with staff and leaders
Provide musical accompaniment (and/or leadership) at Sunday morning worship
Develop music leaders for worship, including ensembles, choirs, individuals
Arrange for substitute leadership when absent
Introduce creative musical and liturgical styles and settings
Create/plan occasional musical events outside of worship
Nurture connections between church and wider community, using music as invitation
Work collaboratively with church leadership to develop budget
