Summary:
Women’s Funding Alliance awarded $357,500 to 21 Washington state organizations that provide political, economic and social opportunities for women and girls, including three based in COLUMIBA CITY: Latinos for Community Transformation, Pinay sa Seattle and Refugee Women's Alliance. The grants bring the total community contribution of WFA to more than $5.5 million since the foundation’s inception. The 21 organizations were selected from 113 applicants requesting more than $1.3 million in funding. An additional 17 groups were selected as beneficiaries of WFA’s workplace giving funds, and another three are recipients of WFA’s Leah C. McCollough Legacy Fund. Total foundation giving for its 10-11 fiscal year is expected to exceed $600,000. During its 09-10 fiscal year, WFA granted nearly $600,000 to local groups, benefiting 170,000+ women and girls. Its goal is to invest half of its granting into efforts that increase the economic well-being of underemployed women and girls in Washington.
