Try something like the built in element inspector in safari on windows or mac. Fairly consistently for me the load time of the front page is over 1s (often over 1s of latency from msft corpnet), peaking over 5s for that first page. So that's definitely going to be a problem. Looks just as slow to me as it did yesterday.

I see it. We're pulling way too much information. I guess I've tooled around the site so much that most of the data has been cached, so I haven't experienced those lag-times.

I can get my brain around limiting sizes and number of the source images (though I sure was enjoying this feature). That would resolve some of the delays.

Other elements aren't clear to me. Like, does it matter that the Google Analytics script has a 21 second latency?

Can I take anyone out to coffee or a beer so you can walk me through this? I'd like to cut away the unnecessary loading while preserving as much functionality as possible.

Pages are loading much faster for me now. I'm thinking this has made the difference.

Does it work better for you too?

It's definitely faster and that tweet makes sense since it look like your original long pole was latency waiting for the first page to come back. I still think its still a little slow. There's one script file in particular that tries to do some custom domain login thing i didn't look into that looks to be the long pole now, bit it looks like all wikidot stuff

Here's another improvement on the Wikidot platform level. Pages should load a lot faster now.
