Renaming the Avenues

If we were going to rename the neighborhood's numbered avenues, who might be some of the people whose names would be great to see gracing our street signs?
Renaming the Avenues
Summary:
Scott tweeted "Columbia City streets are named for explorers and an indian princess. Avenues should be for civil rights heroes"
I like it, but why not broaden it a bit to trailblazers in general, people whose lives have improved the world? Civil rights leaders, certainly, but why not also scientists, artists, thinkers?
