Columbia City - Arts In Motion, SE Seattle's community school of the arts, is preparing an experience for their audience unlike anything they've ever presented before. "Freedom Festival", a newly created pageant of music, art, dance, and spoken word will be presented by Arts In Motion students and faculty, partner schools and SeedArts at the Rainier Valley Cultural Center 3515 S. Alaska St. on Saturday, Jan. 23rd, 7pm.
Embracing the spirit of MLK Day Celebrations, this event will explore different aspects of freedom through voice, ensemble, movement and color, blending multiple art forms into a thematic journey.
"Freedom Festival" features performances of reggae, klezmer, brass band and jazz. Marimbas and drums will echo of Africa, and young people from our very own neighborhood will sing songs of freedom. Audience members too may even participate in the celebration.
Tickets for this one night only event are $12, half-price for kids 10 and under. They can be purchased by phone and at Arts In Motion.
