The New Year has landed and with that the traditional New Year’s Resolution, get active or lose weight or go outside!
Many survived the holiday’s with an extra pound or two around the stomach and a rededication of getting in shape for the new year. National studies show that all 50 states became larger last year, and almost half are obese. Culprits include the ease of fast food in every neighborhood, a reduction of healthy options affordable in grocery stores and video games and television keeping us indoors.
The Beach Challenge sets to get people active in the new year, by creating a variety of opportunities to get active as well as find ways to make activities healthier! Similar programs are run at big corporations…yet there is no reason that everyone can’t take part in a healthier new year. This type of program you will see at gyms and on TV, although none will have the same local feel to them.
The biggest issue of getting motivated is often that little nudge. This program will give you the nudge and will introduce you to healthy options within your own community as well as look at health from a long term perspective.
