In Motion Program

King County Metro Transit is launching an “In Motion” program in southeast Seattle to help residents try new options for getting around. You are invited to get involved! Just pledge to try new ways to get where you need to go – walk, bike, carpool, ride the bus or light rail.

Finding new ways to get to work, the grocery store or doctor appointments is not always easy. Metro is offering some help. When you make a pledge to drive less, you will receive some free bus and light rail tickets as well as a comprehensive travel map of southeast Seattle that includes the new bus routes, Link stations, pedestrian paths, and key information about service changes and fare payment translated in five languages.

The more you bus, bike, walk and share rides instead of driving, the more rewards you can receive. The rewards include ORCA cards preloaded with $5 in fares and $10 gift certificates from local businesses.

Information about the program was mailed to 15,000 households within Mount Baker, Beacon Hill, Columbia City, Othello, and Rainier Beach neighborhoods. People who speak Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Spanish or Somali can request assistance with the program in their own language by checking the box in their language on the mailer and sending it back in the mail.

Transit Changes

The In Motion program also aims to make sure you know about recent changes in bus routes. More than 20 Metro bus routes were revised to reduce duplication of transit services and better connect with the new light rail service. Some routes have more frequent service in the morning and evening, and other routes were revised, reduced or discontinued.
