I know there’s a lot of confusion out there regarding the future of the Columbia City Farmers Market, which makes total sense given the all that’s happened over these past few years, from the Columbia Plaza property being slated for re-development to the unknown future of the Columbia School site, and a few of you may have noticed that the market lot has now been turned into a Diamond pay lot.
So here’s what we know at this time:
· The Market will stage in its current location this season (Opening Day is April 29th!!) and possibly next, depending upon the progress of Columbia Plaza’s re-development (thanks to the generosity of HAL Real Estate Investments, the developers of Columbia Plaza).
· Diamond Parking has assured us that their management of the lot will not impact the Market’s normal operations. But shoppers should be aware that they must still pay to park on market day and that parking on the Columbia Plaza property will be somewhat limited during market hours.
· Over the past two years, a small group of us has been working on the re-location effort. Because we still have one year left at our current site, and because no one knows what the future holds for Columbia School or for Columbia Plaza’s re-development, we have not made any final decisions except…
· …the Market will continue to exist in Columbia City!
Please feel free to email me directly if you have any further questions. I look forward to seeing you all on April 29th!
Thanks!!
Karen Kerschner, Market Manager
