The City of Seattle's reLeaf program is looking for new Tree Ambassadors to help steward urban trees. Tree Ambassadors are a valued part of Seattle's urban forestry network. Each Tree Ambassador receives training in a project area of their interest and has the opportunity to attend a variety of fun and informative workshops on topics on pruning, tree identification, and urban foraging. Visit our website for more information and to apply : www.seattle.gov/trees.

Many concerned Hawthorne parents and teachers are organizing against proposed changes to school assignment areas: http://www.seattleschools.org/modules/cms/pages.phtml?pageid=294923 Our understanding is that the proposed changes would shrink Hawthorne's neighborhood student attendance, break apart an effective teaching team, and undermine much of the successful work in recent years to elevate the school's educational impact in the community. To read the letter sent to the school board, visit www.friendsofhawthorne.org.
