neighborhood public safety meeting
Please join the Lakewood Seward Park Community Association and the Southeast Seattle Crime Prevention Council on Monday February 6 at 7pm at the LSPCClubhouse on 50th and Angeline.
While we called the meeting in response to three recent violent events in the otherwise quiet business community of Lakewood Seward Park, it's open to all concerned about the increase of crime throughout the Seattle's south end.
An armed robbery at Noah's grocery on 50th and Alaska, an attempted armed robbery at Ideal Pet Stop across from PCC and a mid-day stabbing just behind Lakewood Playfield — these crimes have stirred concern for the personal safety of ourselves, our neighbors, our children and our business community.
We are coordinating this meeting with the Southeast Seattle Crime Prevention Council. While Councilmember Bruce Harrell has only been chair of Public Safety since the first of the year, he has received so much input from Southeast about the increase in crime that he requested the presence of SPD Chief Diaz at the meeting. Chief Diaz and his command staff have committed to attend. Seattle City Attorney Peter Holmes, another Seward Park Resident, will also attend.
While some have accepted crime in SE as part of the territory, we want to show that we do not accept it. We want to feel safe walking to PCC or along Lake Wash Blvd. Your presence will help demonstrate that it is not ok for us to feel scared to walk to light rail or to Genesee playfield. Please plan to attend, and spread the word. Thank you.

Hello neighbors. If you would like, you can read my notes about the February 6 public safety meeting. Such as they are, they're available for your perusal.
(Over the December holidays, I re-started up our old and little personal website just as an educational exercise. At first I thought that there would be nothing to write about. )
